History

Mogadore, Ohio

Mogadore is a village located in Portage County, Ohio, United States. The area was originally inhabited by various Native American tribes, including the Delaware and Mingo tribes.

The village of Mogadore was officially established in 1819. It was named after the Mogador region in Morocco, inspired by a book called "AlMoraiko's Map of Africa." Many of its early settlers were of English and German descent.

The construction of the Ohio and Erie Canal, completed in 1827, played a significant role in the development of Mogadore. The canal connected the Ohio River to Lake Erie, passing through the village and bringing increased trade and economic opportunities.
