Elburn is a small village located in Kane County, Illinois, in the United States. Its history dates back to the mid-19th century when European settlers began to arrive in the area.

The land that is now Elburn was originally inhabited by Native American tribes, including the Potawatomi. In 1834, the United States government signed a treaty with the tribes, forcing them to move westward, which opened up the territory to European settlers.

In the early 1850s, the founder of Elburn, Thomas J. McClure, arrived in the area and purchased over 200 acres of land from the government. He initially named the settlement "Blackberry Station" due to the abundance of blackberry bushes in the area.

The Chicago and North Western Transportation Company established a railway through Blackberry Station in 1854, which brought significant growth and development to the area. The railroad opened up opportunities for trade, transportation, and communication.

The name of the town changed in 1884 to Elburn, named after the Elburn Family, who were influential in the community. The village was officially incorporated in 1890.
