Linden, Michigan

Linden, Michigan is a small town located in Genesee County. It was originally settled in 1835 by Jason Gould, who built a log cabin along the Shiawassee River. The area was initially known as Broadhead Mills, named after Philo C. Broadhead who established a sawmill and a gristmill in the area.

In 1840, the name of the settlement was changed to Linden, inspired by a nearby grove of linden trees. The name "Linden" was suggested by Reverend Guyles, who was the first minister in the area. The town began to grow with the establishment of several mills, such as a woolen mill and a flour mill, which played a crucial role in Linden's early economy.
