History
Connerton is a planned community located in Pasco County, Florida, United States. The history of Connerton dates back to the early 1900s. The land on which Connerton stands was originally owned by prosperous cattle rancher and businessman, U.S. Senator James M. Logan.
In the 1920s, Logan sold a portion of the land to Lykes Brothers, a prominent Florida cattle and citrus family. The Lykes family used the land for cattle grazing and as a hunting retreat. They even built a hunting lodge, which still stands today and serves as the community's clubhouse.
Connerton's history took a turn in the 1960s when the Lykes family, facing economic challenges in the cattle industry, decided to sell the properties. The land was purchased by a private developer who intended to develop it into a master-planned community.
However, due to various challenges and economic downturns, the development plans were put on hold for several decades. It was not until the early 2000s that residential development began in Connerton. The project was taken over by a new developer, Hayman Woods, who worked to transform the land into the envisioned community.
