History
Chesterland, Ohio is a small unincorporated community located in Geauga County, in the northeastern part of the state. The area where Chesterland is currently situated was originally inhabited by Native American tribes, including the Erie and Iroquois peoples.
European settlers arrived in the late 18th century, with the first permanent settlement established in 1817 by brothers Samuel and Ebenezer Wilcox. As the population grew, more businesses, schools, and churches were established. In 1917, the Chesterland Post Office was opened, further solidifying the community's identity.
Over the years, Chesterland has maintained its rural charm while adapting to modern developments. The community continues to be known for its agricultural roots, with several farms and orchards still in operation.
