Belterra, TX
County: Hays
History
Belterra is a master-planned community located in Hays County, Texas, approximately 20 miles southwest of downtown Austin. The area where Belterra is situated has a rich history that dates back centuries.
Originally, the land was home to various Native American tribes, including the Tonkawa and Lipan Apache. In the 17th century, Spanish explorers and missionaries began to explore the region, establishing missions and trading posts. However, the area remained predominantly rural and undeveloped until the early 20th century.
In 1910, the area experienced a boom in population and economic development due to the construction of the International-Great Northern Railroad. The railroad helped bring people and commerce to the region, and small communities, including what is now known as Belterra, began to emerge.
Over the following decades, the area remained largely rural, with agriculture being the predominant industry. However, in recent years, with the growth of Austin and its expanding suburbs, the region has seen significant residential and commercial development.
Belterra itself was developed in the early 2000s by the company Crescent Communities. It was designed to be a master-planned community that combines residential, commercial, and recreational spaces to create a cohesive and thriving neighborhood. The community features a range of amenities, including parks, trails, a swimming pool, and a clubhouse.
Today, Belterra is home to thousands of residents and continues to grow as more people are attracted to its peaceful suburban setting and proximity to Austin. It has become a sought-after community known for its beautiful homes, well-maintained green spaces, and family-friendly environment.
